CONCEPT NAME

Ligases

DESCRIPTION

Ligases are enzymes that catalyze the formation of chemical bonds, for instance C–O, C–N, C–S bonds, between two macromolecules, such as proteins or peptides, usually with accompanying hydrolysis of a pyrophosphate bond from adenosine triphosphate (ATP) or another high-energy donor.
