DESCRIPTION

There is a greatlyheightened sense of awareness amongst politicians, policymakers, researchersand the general public that water security is a new and emerging threat. Justin the past few years, a number of high-level meetings involving the world?sleaders and thinkers have focused on water security. With water security nowcommanding global attention, specific questions are posed on the likelihood ofarmed conflict and war over shared water resources, on the continuingavailability of water resources to produce sufficient food for 9 or 10 billionpeople, on the probability of providing safe drinking water to every man, womanand child, and on the impact of climate change to create extreme water events ?such as typhoons, floods and droughts ? for which we are not prepared. Bybringing together inputs from the world?s leading thinkers, experts, practitioners and researchers, the Water Security in a New World series aims toprovide evidence-based and policy-relevant responses to these and many otherquestions related to water security. The volumes in this series will providein-depth analysis of the various dimensions of water security and are meant tobe used by researchers, policymakers and practitioners alike.

Editorial Board:

ZafarAdeel, Pacific Water Research Centre, Simon Fraser University, Canada(Editor-in-Chief)

David Devlaeminck,Xiamen University, China

Dustin Garrick, McMasterUniversity, Canada

Michael Glantz,University of Colorado, Boulder, USA

Joyeeta Gupta,University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Uma Lele, IndependentScholar, Formerly Senior Advisor, The World Bank, USA

BobSandford, University of British Columbia, Canada.
