TITLE

The Curaçao Islands From World War I to World War II

ABSTRACT

During World War I the Netherlands managed to remain neutral which made for more advantages and fewer problems in the Caribbean colonies than in the mother country. German power, all permeating in the North Sea, was considerably less of a threat across the Atlantic. Although the Cura~ao islands were never in any serious danger, nevertheless just prior to the outbreak of hostilities the Dutch government stationed two men-of-war at Willemstad.
