ABSTRACT

The structure and tribological behavior of thermal spray coatings produced from ferritic (Sv-08G2S), austenitic (06Kh19N9T), and martensitic (40Kh13) wire steels treated by nitrogen ions at various temperatures are studied. It has been shown that ion-beam treatment leads to an increase in the wear resistance of the coatings made of the ferritic steel by 200–300 times and in the wear resistance of the coatings made of martensitic steel by up to five times under boundary lubrication. Based on the obtained data, temperature conditions for ion-beam nitriding are selected that ensure the highest tribological characteristics of the coatings. More... »
