Abnormally rapid failure of domestic ultrahigh-pressure cylinders used for hydrojet cutting necessitated a new approach to establishing the causes of their rapid wear. An attempt to explain observed phenomena in terms of supercritical water was made, and a potential method of increasing the wear-resistance of the these cylinders by a special pressure testing process was suggested.
