ABSTRACT

The influence of ion-beam nitriding on the structure, phase composition, and wear resistance of a coating obtained by hypersonic spraying of 06X19H9T austenitic steel is considered. Ion-beam nitriding boosts the surface hardness of the coating to 785–1410 HV 0.025 and increases the wear resistance by a factor of up to 35. On the basis of the results, nitriding temperatures ensuring maximum improvement in coating strength and wear resistance are selected. More... »
