ABSTRACT

Despite its cost, therapeutic drug monitoring for the atypical antipsychotics is of clinical value as it affords the opportunity to reduce toxicity and increase compliance. Although data document the utility of routine monitoring of blood clozapine and olanzapine concentrations, there are no similar data available for either risperidone or quetiapine. Numerous studies have established an ideal lower therapeutic threshold plasma concentration for clozapine while fewer data are available for olanzapine. More... »

24 schema:description Despite its cost, therapeutic drug monitoring for the atypical antipsychotics is of clinical value as it affords the opportunity to reduce toxicity and increase compliance. Although data document the utility of routine monitoring of blood clozapine and olanzapine concentrations, there are no similar data available for either risperidone or quetiapine. Numerous studies have established an ideal lower therapeutic threshold plasma concentration for clozapine while fewer data are available for olanzapine.
