ABSTRACT

We have investigated the ionization and fragmentation of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecule, fluorene (C13H10\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$\hbox {C}_{{13}}\,\hbox {H}_{{10}}$$\end{document}), upon proton impact with energy 250 keV. Various ionization and fragmentation products have been identified. Hydrogen-loss process from singly and doubly ionized parent molecules has been found to be a dominating channel. In case of singly ionized molecule, up to three H-losses have been observed. However, two H-loss ion has not been observed. For the doubly ionized molecule up to four H-losses have been observed. The ratio of doubly to singly charged parent ions are found to be quite high compared to the atomic targets, such as, He and Ne.Graphical abstract More... »
