ABSTRACT

Processes occurring during laser excitation of an atomic vapor layer so thin that its optical properties are determined by collisions of excited atoms with the solid boundaries of the layer are theoretically examined. The possibility of using ultrathin cells for studying of atomic collisions with solid surfaces is discussed.
