ABSTRACTRemoval of hazardous organic contaminants in water is still a challenge work and attracting a growing number of concerning in recent years. In order to improve the selective recognition ability of imprinted materials, calcium ions were introduced into the polymer to form methylene blue molecularly imprinted polymers by reacting calcium carbonate with acrylic acid. After that this product was polymerized with N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide in the presence of initiator and template molecules of methylene blue. The samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectro-scopy, X-Ray diffraction, X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis. The adsorption performance and regeneration stability of molecularly imprinted polymer for methylene blue were investigated by adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms.
