ABSTRACT

The kinetics of the reaction of phenyl isocyanate with butan-1-ol have been studied in the temperature range from 30 to 60°C. The rate constants of the noncatalytic and autocatalytic reaction paths have been determined from the concentration dependences of the effective second-order rate constants. The autocatalytic reaction is characterized by lower enthalpies and entropies of activation than those of the noncatalytic reaction. The autocatalytic reaction is the major formation path of butyl phenylcarbamate. More... »
