ABSTRACT

Condensation of N2-(anthracen-9-ylmethyl)naphthalene-2,3-diamine with aromatic and heterocyclic aldehydes gave a series of the corresponding Schiff bases and N-(anthracen-9-ylmethyl)-substituted naphtho-[2,3-d]imidazoles. Study on the luminescence spectra and complexing ability of the condensation products revealed their sensor properties toward some heavy metal cations.
