ABSTRACT

Mono- and binuclear complexes of 2-(2-pyridyl)benzimidazole and its 1-alkyl-substituted derivatives with zinc dichloride were synthesized and structurally characterized. In terms of the competitive coordination problem, it was shown that pyridylbenzimidazole is an N,N-chelating ligand. The binuclear complex is formed through a dichloride bridge.
