ABSTRACT

We propose to use a diaphragm in order to decrease the contribution of the transverse wandering of a laser beam to the total noise level in a system of the cantilever bending measurement using laser beam deviation in an atomic force microscope (AFM). The efficacy of this method has been experimentally verified, and it was found that, using a diaphragmed laser beam, the noise level can be reduced to 0.01 nm. More... »
