ABSTRACTData on the composition of organic compounds in the sediments of freshwater lakes Kirek and Murashka and salt lakes Tus and Mormyshanskoe (Southern Siberia) have been obtained for the first time. The identified compounds include acyclic, alicyclic, and aromatic hydrocarbons; aliphatic acids of normal structure and their esters; acyclic aldehydes; acyclic and alicyclic ketones; acyclic, alicyclic, and aromatic spirits; triphenylphosphates; furans; and thiophenes. Also identified were specific organic compounds intrinsic in lakes with different degree of mineralization and the main sources of organic compounds in sediments. The characteristics of the environmental state of the examined lakes were determined. The maximum set of organic compounds of anthropogenic origin was found in the sediments of Lake Mormyshanskoe.
