ABSTRACT

The effect of chemically reactive and inert admixtures is studied to determine the concentration limits for the flame propagation of hydrogen-air mixtures at atmospheric pressure. The dependence of the effect additives have on their reactivity and mechanism of combustion is discussed. It is shown that the inhibition of combustion is a clear indicator of the unreality of the one-step reaction model at the heart of the theory of thermal combustion. More... »
