ABSTRACT

Mononuclear complexes TBA[Bi(NN)I4] (TBA = tetra-n-butylammonium, NN = 2,2′-bipyridyl (1) and 1,10-phenanthroline (2)) are synthesized by the reaction of BiI3, tetra-n-butylammonium iodide, and the corresponding ligand in acetone with subsequent crystallization from a benzene-acetone mixture. By changing the solvent used in crystallization to ethanol, binuclear [Bi2(NN)2I6] complexes (3 and 4) are produced. The crystal structure of the compounds is determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. More... »
