ABSTRACT

The reproductive diapause of Drosophila littoralis is terminated by long daylength and sufficiently high temperature. The genetic basis of this phenomenon has been investigated by crossing dia-pausing and non-diapausing strains with each other. The results suggest that the genetic control of reproductive diapause can be explained on the basis of one major locus with multiple alleles or a cluster of linked loci.
