ABSTRACT

Electrospray ionization and matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization are effective ionization methods for mass spectrometry of biomolecules. Here we describe the capabilities of these methods for peptide and protein characterization in biotechnology. An integrated analytical strategy is presented encompassing protein characterization prior to and after cloning of the corresponding gene.nature.
