ABSTRACT

The concept of gene transfer using irradiated pollen was investigated in Brassica juncea (L.) Coss. The M1 and M2 generations derived from the pollinations with heavily irradiated pollen (25, 35 and 50 Krad) showed a greater similarity with the maternal parent for both qualitative and quantitative traits. In general, the similarity increased with an increase in radiation dose. The results indicate the random transfer of paternal characters, and their expression in maternal background. More... »
