ABSTRACT

IN the previous paper1 we described the history of a cell clone (E9) synthesizing a single species of anti-DNP. The original expansion of the clone and its strong proliferative capacity during the first few transfer generations were reflected by high levels of E9 anti-DNP production (2–3 mg/ml. serum). Throughout this period there was a striking absence of antibody to DNP other than the product of the E9 clone. The exclusive production of E9 anti-DNP was observed both through seven serial transfer generations, and when clone E9 was maintained in individual hosts for protracted periods of time with occasional reinjection of the original antigen (DNP–BGG).
