ABSTRACTExperimental data on the copper dissolution under cathodic polarization (anomalous dissolution) are discussed. It is shown that anomalous copper dissolution is a complex process with mixed kinetics. The oxygen transport to the electrode surface is the main controlling stage. Stages of the copper oxidation and surface copper oxide dissolution account for a considerably smaller fraction of control. A simplified scheme of partial reactions on copper under its cathodic polarization is suggested. More... »
