ABSTRACT

Modified procedures were developed for the detection of γ-hydroxybutyric acid and 1,4-butanediol (its metabolic precursor) in foods, food additives, and urine using gas chromatography and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. The analytical range was 0.1–20 wt %.
