ABSTRACT

An investigation of the effect of the total polarity of a system (the sum of the Hammett constants of substituents in the molecules of n-component mixtures of o-oxyazomethyne derivatives) on the electrodeposition of several transition metals (Fe, Ni) shows that electrodeposition parameters (i, K, and E) linearly depend on Σσ and obey the linear Gibbs' energy relation (LGER). Possible mechanisms of adsorption and coordination on metal surfaces in the presence of surfactants are discussed. The dominating function of a superficial chelation between the surfactant molecules and the ions of examined metals in the electrodeposition process is suggested. More... »
