ABSTRACT

A plasmid (p Act1-F), containing b-glucuronidase (GUS) as a reporter gene, was delivered into embryogenic rice cells by using silicon carbide whiskers (SCW). The cells were thoroughly mixed with the plasmid and SCW, incubated for 1 day and transient GUS activity was revealed histochemically. Under optimal conditions, 533 transformants per 1 g wet cells were observed. More... »
