ABSTRACT

The intensity of spontaneous peroxide fragmentation of the polypeptide chain of hemoglobin was studied in relation fo the protein concentration and pH. A chain reaction mechanism with cross chain termination was suggested. The main chain-leading radical in the process is hydroxy radical, which is responsible for peroxide damage of other biopolymers also. More... »
