ABSTRACT

The efficacy of using activated fibre for creating carbon-fibre-filled plastics by the polycondensation filling method is confirmed by the high chemical and physicomechanical properties of the material obtained. The catalytic effect of an activated carbon fibre on polycondensation of phenol—formaldehyde binder is established. Oxidative treatment of the fibre does not reduce the tensile strength of the carbon-fibre-filled plastic fabricated by the polycondensation method, in contrast to the composite fabricated by the traditional method.
