ABSTRACT

The paper suggests a technique for deriving approximate energy spectra of high-intensity bremsstrahlung sources from attenuation curves. The technique involves preliminary differentiation of effective attenuation factor, calculation of moments of random energy values E, and utilization of orthogonal polynomials. The analysis of computer simulations demonstrated that the technique is suitable for approximating energy spectra. The rms error of the approximation in the example under consideration was within 5%, given the initial uncertainty of 0.2%. More... »
