ABSTRACT

The in vitro culture of human hematopoietic stem cells in different types of bioreactors is reviewed. After a brief description of the hematopoiesis and stem cells biology, the selection of growth medium for stem cells is evaluated as well as the parameters to be controlled for ex vivo expansion and differentiation of stem cells. Several types of bioreactors for in vitro stem cell culture are discussed and compared. More... »
