ABSTRACT

This paper presents a new optimal sizing strategy for a grid-connected PV/wind/battery hybrid system using particle swarm optimization and a novel energy filter algorithm. The objective function used is the total cost of the system and the constraints are the PV capacity, wind capacity and the battery capacity, while maintaining the system reliability and less fluctuations of power injected into the grid. In addition to the above constraints battery’s state of charge is also taken into consideration to effectively size the system. A case study is also presented at the end to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. More... »
