ABSTRACTCucumis melo fruits showing symptoms of irregular brown lesions were collected in Mohr region, Fars province, Iran. Based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, the isolated pathogen was identified as Neoscytalidium hyalinum. Arthroconidia were isolated from fruit rot symptoms inoculated in a pathogenicity test. This study provides the first report of the occurrence of Neoscytalidium hyalinum on C. melon causing fruit rot symptoms in Iran. More... »
