ABSTRACT

The glass-forming ability, soft magnetic properties, and mechanical properties of Fe80P12-xC8Six (x = 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4) ribbons are investigated by various techniques. It is found that the glass-forming ability of Fe-based ribbons has been improved obviously with Si addition. The saturation magnetization (MS) of the ribbons increases gradually with increasing Si content (cSi), and their coercivity (HC) tends to decrease, which is consistent with the change of their nearest atomic neighboring distance (r1). The Young's modulus, hardness, and wear resistance of the ribbons have also been significantly improved with adding Si, which will be helpful to explore a new type of Fe-based amorphous alloy with excellent soft magnetic properties and high ductility.Graphical Abstract More... »
