ABSTRACT

A novel high-yielding synthetic route to the triangular cluster complex [{Re3(μ3-S)-(μ-S2)3}Br6]Br was proposed. A reaction of the complex with molten KF · HF gave the cuboid cluster complex K8[{Re4(μ3-S)4}F12][{Re4(μ3-S)3(μ3-O)}F12] · 4H2O containing the earlier un-known heteroleptic cluster core {Re4(μ3-S)3(μ3-O)}8+. The structures of both complexes were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
