ABSTRACT

The review summarizes the results of studies aimed at developing the fundamentals for the design of a new class of nitric oxide donors, viz., iron nitrosyl complexes with functionalized sulfur-containing ligands, which are structural analogs of the active sites of non-heme nitrosyl iron-sulfur proteins. The structures, reactivities, and pharmacological activity in vitro and in vivo of these complexes are considered. More... »

25 schema:description The review summarizes the results of studies aimed at developing the fundamentals for the design of a new class of nitric oxide donors, viz., iron nitrosyl complexes with functionalized sulfur-containing ligands, which are structural analogs of the active sites of non-heme nitrosyl iron-sulfur proteins. The structures, reactivities, and pharmacological activity in vitro and in vivo of these complexes are considered.
