ABSTRACT

The effects of Sn4+, Sb5+, and Te6+ introduced into the bulk of Cr2O3 particles on the catalytic properties of the chromium oxide in the dehydration/dehydrogenation of isopropanol were studied. It was found that the presence of these cations noticeably increased the specific activity of the catalyst. Based on information obtained by 119Sn, 121Sb, and 125Te Mossbauer spectroscopy, a conclusion was drawn that the interaction of the above cations with surface chromium vacancies is responsible for an increase in the number of active centers.
