ABSTRACT

Increasing wear resistance of steel is of great importance for their practical application. In this paper, we have studied the tribological performance of assembly of stearic acid on a carbon steel coated by sol–gel derived TiO2 film. The samples were characterized by means of infrared spectroscopy, contact angle measurements, atomic force microscopy and a macro friction and wear tester. Enhanced wear resistance were clearly obtained after functionalization of stearic acid on the TiO2 surface. More... »
