ABSTRACTAfter the tea waste was hydrothermally carbonized, the composite material of carbonized tea waste and magnetic nanoparticles Fe3O4 (magnetic hydrothermal carbonization tea waste, MTW) was prepared by chemical co-precipitation method. The prepared samples were characterized by SEM, FTIR, and EDS. The adsorption effect and the adsorption mechanism of MTW on uranyl ions were also investigated. The results show that magnetic nanoparticles Fe3O4 were successfully loaded on carbonized tea waste, and the adsorption capacity of carbonized tea waste for uranyl ions was significantly improved. When the initial concentration of uranium ions was 35 mg/L, pH was 7, the temperature was 45 ℃, the amount of MTW was 5.0 mg, and the reaction time was 12 h, the adsorption capacity of MTW for uranium ions could reach 230.0 mg/g. The adsorption kinetics of uranyl ions to MTW is in agreement with the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation, and the adsorption isotherm of MTW to uranyl ions conformed to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. The thermodynamic parameters ΔG < 0, ΔS > 0, and ΔH > 0 indicated that the adsorption was a spontaneous endothermic process. More... »
