ABSTRACT

We have used IR spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction to study "mechanocomposites" obtained by joint mechanical activation of polymers (polyamide, Sevilen, and poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone) with nanosized silicon dioxide in a highenergy ball mill. We have established that for <10 wt.% polymer in the initial mixture, mechanocomposites are formed with chemical bonding between components via bridges of adsorbed water. More... »
