ABSTRACT

This study was aimed at comparing options for 137Cs separation from a solution (240 g of sodium chloride and 10 g of potassium chloride in 1 L of distilled water) simulating the saline solution resulting from the treatment of a fast reactor primary coolant based on sodium and potassium. 137Cs distribution coefficients, sorption kinetics and sorption capacities of several commercial and laboratory preparations of inorganic ion-exchangers were compared. On the basis of the results obtained, the KNiFC-PAN composite ion-exchanger may be recommended as the most suitable for caesium separation from this type of solution. More... »
