ABSTRACTVerzögerte Diagnosestellungen mit oft fatalen Folgen für den Patienten kommen bei verschiedenen Verletzungstypen und immer noch viel zu häufig vor. Typische Konstellationen sind z. B. häufige, allgemein bekannte Krankheitsbilder mit seltenen Problemen, die durch zusätzliche Therapien oder Begleiterkrankungen des Patienten kompliziert werden können, wie der im vorliegenden Beitrag dargestellte Fall einer atypischen Femurfraktur unter Biphosphonattherapie, oder seltene Verletzungsbilder, die, wenn zu spät erkannt, mit schwerwiegenden Komplikationen verbunden sein können, wie beispielsweise die ebenfalls besprochenen potenziell lebensbedrohlichen supraaortalen Gefäßverletzungen. Zur Erkennung Letzterer bei Patienten mit Rasanztrauma gegen Kopf, Hals und/oder Thorax erwies sich die Multislice-CT-Angiographie (CT:Computertomographie) als ein sicheres Diagnostikum und sollte derzeit als bildgebende Screeninguntersuchung im Rahmen der Schockraumversorgung erwogen werden.
