ABSTRACTPosttraumatic deformities are common complications of forearm fractures. Depending on the extent of the deformity, movement is painfully restricted and loss of strength is seen, leading to problems in the workplace and everyday life. Criteria for the indication of correction osteotomies have been defined. In children therapy should take further growth expectancy into consideration, bearing the limits of spontaneous correction potential in mind. Preoperatively a detailed, three-dimensional analysis of the deformity and a plan outline of the nominal condition is required. According to the literature good results following revision osteotomy can be achieved at any age. In contrast to congenital deformities caused by growth disorders the results of even extensive osteotomies for posttraumatic deformities are good. However, a revision always implies additional work and a higher risk of complications. More... »
