ABSTRACTDer Mensch ist das einzige Individuum, welches in Überkopfposition eine Wurfbewegung ausführen kann. Das komplexe Zusammenspiel aus statischen und dynamischen Stabilisatoren dieses Gelenks erlaubt es, bei perfektionierter Technik Wurfgeschwindigkeiten (z. B. im Handball) von über 120 km/h zu erzielen. Bei repetitiver Belastung sind spezifische Verletzungsmuster in den einzelnen Kompartimenten des Gelenks die Folge. Dieser Artikel fasst die wichtigsten Werkzeuge der klinischen und bildgebenden Diagnostik zusammen und stellt die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Ellenbogenarthroskopie anhand verschiedener Fallbeispiele dar.
