ABSTRACT

5d Yang-Mills theory with an Sp(N) gauge group admits a discrete analog of the θ parameter. We describe the origin of this parameter in \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$ \mathcal{N} $\end{document} = 1 theories from Type I’ string theory, and study its effect on the 5d superconformal fixed point theories with an Sp(1) = SU(2) gauge group by computing the superconformal index.
