AUTHORS ABSTRACTThe theoretical methods of characterization of detailed network structure based on the theory of branching processes and correlation with viscoelastic behavior in main transition and rubbery regions for polyurethane and flexible epoxy-amine networks are reviewed. The theory was amended to calculate the averages of the molecular mass of dangling chains. The comparison with viscoelastic data reveals that the length of both the elastically active network chains (EANC) and dangling chains contribute to the width of the retardation spectrum in the main transition and rubber zone. When the effect of EANCs is factored out, the increase of the width correlates with the molecular mass of dangling chains. More... »
