ABSTRACT

The spontaneous movement of the TPC-line across the surface of a spherical particle after rupture of the between particle surface and gas bubble forming thin liquid film has been experimentally studied by means of high-speed video technique at the pendant drop. The time dependence fo the TPC-velocity correlating with the degree of hydrophobicity can be approximated by a simple exponential relationship. The analysis of the experimental data on the basis of the molecular-kinetic theory demonstrates that this theory, also for the spontaneous movement of the TPC-line across the particle surface, leads to physical reasonable conclusions as comparison with the molecular parameters of the forced movement shows. With the presented measuring method was created the requirements for systematic studies of the dewetting kinetics on a bubble/particle system under influence of interfacial forces. More... »
