ABSTRACT

Interfacial activity and extraction data of position isomers of alkyl-8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives have been determined. The studies were performed to find possibilities for simultaneous separation of Cu2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ from percolating water model systems. 2-Nonyl-8-hydroxyquinoline shows high extractabilities for all metal ions. The addition of decanol to the organic phase gives a significant increase of extraction caused by alcohol solvation of the complex extracted. More... »
