ABSTRACT

On the basis of the spectroscopical measurements, the measuring method for determination of the hydrocarbon concentration has been proposed and realized in practice. This simplified method is based on the integral measurement of intensity of the optical emission spectrum by the semiconductor photodetector in the nitrogen afterglow at low temperature. The advantage of the proposed method is technical simplicity and economy of the measuring equipment. As a detector we used a photodiode BPW34B with increased sensitivity in the spectral range 300–400 nm. The detection limit of our method is in the order of 10−8 carbon atoms in the pure nitrogen.
