ABSTRACT

Ten potato varieties were inoculated with the dark mycelial and the microsclerotial isolates ofVerticillium albo atrum. The D.M. isolate used proved to be considerably more pathogenic than the M.S. isolate. Of varieties tested, Kennebec, Cobbler, and Cherokee were the most susceptible. None of the ten M.S. isolates ofVerticillium albo atrum inoculated on Cobbler potatoes in 1965 caused any reduction in yield. Isolations made from diseased potato stems collected from a province-wide survey in 1964 and 1965 yielded appproximately 50/50 D.M. and M.S. isolates ofVerticillium albo atrum. More... »
