ABSTRACT

After a short introduction in which we briefly summarize the different motivations which lead so many people to the Polya-Eggenberger formula for multiplicity distributions, we present a systematic comparison of the predictions of the formula with a new collection of 25 experiments, to be added to the 22 discussed in the first paper of this series. The general trend for normal reactions already found is confirmed. The possible description of thep data on multiplicity distributions in terms of the same phenomenological formula is also pointed out. More... »
