ABSTRACT

The difficulty in determining the total and the differential cross-sections of the double-resonance process π+p → ρ0Δ++ is discussed and a method of determining these is given which involves only few theoretical assumptions. The total cross-section is (0.32±0.04) mb. The joint decay angular distribution is analysed in terms of statistical tensor and density matrix elements. The data are consistent with pion exchange.
